FDA warns consumers about health risks with Healthy Life Chemistry dietary supplement     July 28, 2013

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers that they should not use or purchase Healthy Life Chemistry By Purity First B-50, marketed as a vitamin B dietary supplement. A preliminary FDA laboratory analysis indicated that the product contains two potentially harmful anabolic steroids—methasterone, a controlled substance, and dimethazine. These ingredients are not listed in the label and should not be in a dietary supplement.

Later retirement reduces the risk of getting dementia          July 21, 2013

A French study reported in Alzheimer's Association International Conference in Boston last week (July 13 – 18): People who delay retirement have less risk of developing Alzheimer's disease or other types of dementia by studied nearly half a million people. For each additional year of work, the risk of getting dementia is reduced by 3.2 percent. Someone who retired at 65 had about a 15 percent lower risk of developing dementia compared to someone retiring at 60.

Fish oil linked to prostate cancer                                           July 14, 2013

The latest news came out last week, a study by scientists at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle linked eating a lot of oily fish or taking potent fish oil supplements to a 43% increased risk for prostate cancer overall, and a 71% increased risk for aggressive prostate cancer. Their report was published online in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

We had been informed by many other previous researches that fish oil could protect the heart, ease inflammation, improve mental health, and lengthen life. But this latest research report alarmed us the other side of fish oil effect. If you would like to boost your omega 3 level, my suggestion is to get them from fish, not from pill, and do not over do it. Supplements provide higher doses of what you take them for than your body usually needs or can actually process. The better dietary health does not come in pill form.
